If you’re dealing with a missing functional tooth or teeth, or if there’s a severely damaged tooth requiring extraction and replacement, dental implants offer an optimal restorative solution. Due to their long-lasting and stable nature, dental implants are favoured by many over removable dentures and bridges.
At Central Dental Elsternwick, we offer single and multiple dental implants to restore the function and appearance of your missing tooth. If you are experiencing any inconvenience due to a missing or severely worn-out tooth, book your consultation today.
Dental implants are a remarkable advancement in dental technology, providing a resilient and long-lasting solution for those missing one or more teeth. During your initial appointment, our dentist will comprehensively analyse your oral health through an OPG X-ray and other diagnostic tests to deem your suitability for dental implants.
If suitable and should you opt for dental implant treatment, we will first surgically place a dental implant made from biocompatible titanium screw into your jawbone through guided bone regeneration techniques, also known as Concentrated Growth Factor (CGF). Once the implant is placed, it will take some time, typically 3 months, to fuse with your jawbone, i.e. ‘osseointegration’. After the dental implant post is securely placed, we will attach a small connector called ‘abutment’ to the post and add a prosthetic tooth or crown on top that looks and functions like a natural tooth.
To ensure longevity and success rate of your dental implants, we advise regular follow ups and at-home care which will be discussed with you post-treatment.
Dental implants offer numerous benefits over other restorative treatments such as dental bridges and loose dentures. Besides restoring function and confidence, here are some major reasons why our patients elect dental implant treatment at our clinic:
Each dental implant is surgically placed and fuses over time within your jawbone. You will not have to worry about them coming off while eating, chewing or smiling.
Dental implants seamlessly mimic both the appearance and function of natural teeth. They are crafted to precisely match your surrounding teeth and the missing tooth.
Unlike other tooth restorative options, dental implants are engineered for lasting durability. Constructed from biocompatible titanium alloys, when cared for correctly, they can endure for decades, making them a wise long-term investment.
The integrated dental implant not only provides robust support for your jawbone but also stimulates bone growth, mirroring the function of a natural tooth. This approach helps prevent bone loss and preserves the integrity of your facial structure.
Dental implants are remarkably resilient, allowing them to withstand the rigours of everyday biting forces, including hard foods. Their permanent integration does not require the need for removal, guaranteeing superior comfort.
Missing teeth or an ill-fitting denture could impact your speech. A well-fitted dental implant prevents the issue of slurring or mumbling.
Unlike dental bridges, the adjacent teeth do not require any prepping or alteration to fit dental implants. Each dental implant is individually placed directly into the jawbone of the missing tooth.
Once placed, dental implants are relatively easy to maintain. They do not require removal or a special cleaning solution. We will provide you with post-treatment care instructions that are easy to follow.
At Central Dental Elsternwick, we continually seek to deliver exceptional care and treatment to our valued patients. Our advanced notable technology and techniques for dental implant treatment includes OPG X-ray Machine, Digital Scanner, Laser Dentistry and Concentrated Growth Factor (CGF) techniques.
During your initial consult, we will thoroughly evaluate your dental implant suitability and options using advanced OPG X-ray and digital scans, offering superiority over traditional X−ray scans. Additionally, our laser dental treatment allows for the process to be done with minimal invasion, significant reduction of infection and a quicker post-recovery. CGF techniques have also been introduced to accelerate bone regeneration using the patient’s own blood.

Leaving a gap in the mouth can have serious consequences. When a tooth is missing, neighbouring teeth may gradually shift position. This can lead to issues such as misalignment and unsightly gaps in your smile.
Additionally, these movements may create gum problems and/or decay, and potentially lead to the loss of more teeth. As more teeth are lost, compensatory chewing in other areas can increase the risk of tooth fractures due to excessive stress, as well as potential jaw issues. This can also lead to diminished stimulation of the jawbone, contributing to bone loss overtime.
Dental implants typically outshine its many alternative options. Dentures, in contrast, can prematurely age a person’s appearance, lead to social discomfort when they shift or make clicking noises, and restrict the simple joy of eating comfortably.
Dental implants on the other hand are permanent fixtures. They are surgically placed under the gum and fuse with the jaw bone to provide similar strength and durability of a natural tooth. This essential feature is absent in removable dentures, which simply sit atop the gum without stimulating the bone, leading to progressive bone loss. Dental implants keep the bone stimulated, healthy and strong.
The discomfort or bleeding may subsides within as little as seven days. However, the complete fusion of the dental implants with the jawbone requires approximately three months.
During this period, it is prudent to take care of your implants by avoiding hard foods and drinks that are either too hot or too cold. The timeline for complete fusion of your dental implants with the jawbone may vary, depending on if additional procedures were performed during your surgery, such as bone grafting.
Another huge advantage of getting dental implants is the minimal adjustment required in your dental care routine. Simply adhere to your regular dental care regimen, which includes brushing and flossing!
To ensure that there are no issues with your implants after the surgery, we highly recommend regular visits with our team.
While some patients may initially perceive implant treatment as costly compared to alternative options, it’s important to consider the long-term benefits. Dental implants offer a permanent and natural solution, unlike alternatives like dentures. Although they may require a greater upfront investment, their durability and longevity often make them a cost-effective choice over time.
The cost of dental implants can vary depending on your individual circumstances and any additional procedures required. A single-tooth replacement for most implants typically starts at $4200. Book your appointment today to assess your suitability and tailored treatment plan estimates.
